The benefits to Local Number Access is that you are typically charged a fixed amount for access to a bank of phone numbers in a local market, tyically set at a T-1 (24 Phone Lines). This allows you to control your costs for accessing your network while this strategy limits your the number of customers that can access your network during any given point in time.

For example, if you have "Local Number Access" set at a T-1 (24 lines), there can be 24 concurrent calls into your network within that local number area.

Although this can greatly diminish your costs within that local area, unless you have large enough client base in any given market, the costs to expand in any give market can increase exponentially, making expansion to new markets difficult.
